Architect Planner Innovator

​Mark R Miller FAIA is an award-winning architect, planner and inventor whose work advances the quality of life at the intersection of architecture, science, and culture.
Mark founded MKThink in 2000 based on an innovative approach to the built environment that integrates analytics and creative services to solve complex business challenges and problems of place to improve the quality of life. MKThink’s clients include Mozilla Corporation, Stanford University, WeWork, The Nature Conservancy, Fannie Mae, U.S. Office of Naval Research, San Francisco SPCA, San Francisco Zoo, and the San Francisco, Oakland, Berkeley, and Arlington (VA) Unified School Districts. 
Mark’s pioneering leadership has resulted in the creation of sustainable building systems for education, data-gathering sensor technologies, and data-management systems that deliver spatial intelligence. In 2007, Mark co-founded Project FROG, an award-winning modular green building company that he steered from inception to venture capital funding.  In 2013, Mark launched RoundhouseOne, a data-analytics company that is advancing the field of spatial intelligence powered by its multi-patented technology platform.
In 2016, Miller was elected to the American Institute of Architects College of Fellows. Fellowship is a unique distinction that acknowledges architects who have made a significant contribution to architecture and society. 
Mark currently serves on the Urban Land Institute’s (ULI) Healthcare and Life Sciences Council and is a member of the San Francisco Bay Area Planning and Urban Research Association (SPUR), the Society for College and University Planning (SCUP), the California Association of Independent Schools, and the U.S. Green Building Council.
A champion of the environment and education, he was a founding board member of the Climate Action Network, One Atmosphere, and NorCalCoast.org. As chief architect for the San Francisco Zoo and Gardens, he is helping the board to realize the vision for the zoo as a global  environmental conservationist. Mark serves as a Trustee for San Francisco University High School and is a member of the Occidental College Task Force on Music and MAC (Media Arts and Culture).
Mark earned his Master’s degree from Kings College, Cambridge University and his Bachelor’s in Growth and Structure of the City from Haverford College.  He is a former triathlete, and describes himself as “an above-average surfer and a lousy golfer.”
